Airpeace Chief Executive Allen Onyema said Friday that the airline is in a position to launch a direct flight from Nigeria to Israel.
Onyema said this in the context of the comment of the executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, who hinted that until the end of November 2022, direct flights from Nigeria to Israel would be launched.
LEADERSHIP recalls that Rev. Pam revealed this while welcoming Israel’s Ambassador to Nigeria, S. E. Mr. Michael Freeman and Onyema in Abuja.
He revealed, however, that the Commission would inspire direct flights to Israel, saying that having a direct flight to Israel via a Nigerian airline would pose the challenge of maximum expenses and leakage.
In his words, “This would particularly decrease the flight load. Our joy is that our own person, a Nigerian, will be the first to have this opportunity to bring pilgrims to Israel. “
He expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for making it imperative to pay a courtesy visit to the NCPC for the first time, just months after taking office.
“We are very humbled to have him here as the representative of the entire country of Israel in Nigeria,” he said.
He further noted that the NCPC was created primarily to coordinate and oversee the movement of Christians to Israel and other holy sites around the world.
Pam the ambassador for his zeal and determination to chart the course of the Christian pilgrimage and also applauded Onyema for his internal humanitarian interventions.
Speaking, Israel’s Ambassador to Nigeria, H. E. Michael Freeman, thanked the head of NCPC for all his efforts to promote the cause of Christian pilgrimage to Nigeria. He said he was extremely happy to work with NCPC.
