MANILA, Philippines – Low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines has regained pre-pandemic domestic capacity at its Manila hub, as the airline prepares to do the same with its operations through 2023.
According to AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla, the Malaysian airline’s Philippine unit has reached one hundred percent of pre-pandemic frequency for domestic flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
In addition, Isla said cargo reached 80% for Southeast Asian destinations in the third quarter, meaning at least 8 out of 10 seats presented in the era were reserved.
Isla said the cheap airline was striving to succeed in its pre-pandemic foreign capacity during the early part of next year. To do this, AirAsia Philippines has committed to launching seat sales from time to time to request air travel.
“We are committed to achieving one hundred percent of our pre-pandemic flight frequency to overseas destinations during the first part of 2023. After observing the maximum confidence of the Filipinos in the new general of our own national operations, we are confident that with more rest from border protocols, we will see an uptick in outbound tourism, particularly early next year,” Isla said.
“We need to push this forward with promotions that make our flights even more accessible,” he said.
For the holiday season, AirAsia Philippines expects demand for flights to increase as its number of flights to foreign routes increases.
