Joint Base MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ – Air Advisors with Mobility Support Advisory Squadron 571 provide virtual education for the first time to members of panama’s National Naval Air Service, also known as SENAN, from August 31 to September 11.

This new coaching format is very different from everything MSAS has done before because its project takes place in a spouse’s country.

“The virtual commitment to SENAN, the Zoom platform, which supports the consulting project, has nothing to do with any positions it has held in the past,” said Sgt. Samantha Miller, 571 Mobility Support Advisory Squadron, Air Advisor. more productive of education at the command post and makes it cellular in a way we’ve never noticed before. “

Air Advisors established the new education and certification procedure with contributions from Air Force Headquarters, Air Mobility Command, Inter-American Air Force Academy, 818 MSAS and members of the State Alliance Program.

Air consultants earned virtual education certifications prior to this consulting engagement, which included two weeks of extensive practice, study, and education to present a professional symbol and meet industry standards.

“The team has had to succeed over obstacles such as how to manage virtual interpretation, how to practically meet the verification needs of the Leahy Congress (law) and how to engage instructors while facing the challenge of having a single camera, microphone and screen to interact with their audience,” said Captain Reuben Luoma-Overstreet, MSAS Mission Commander 571.

The education that air advisers provide to their Panamanian spouses includes an introductory course and command and an airfield operations course on various topics, which will serve as a framework for long-term spouse capacity building missions in the country.

“This education is helping us build a lasting relationship with SENAN by institutionalizing a fundamental technique for our spouse’s capacity building mission,” Luoma-Overstreet said. “This will not only provide education that will help and standardize SENAN’s operations and practices in Operations C2 and Airfield spaces, but will also increase the effectiveness of long-term educational opportunities that may sometimes have been more sporadic. “

The command and course course lasts for one week and the course of operation of two-week airfields. The courses last 16 classes between five instructors for 26 students, taught in two languages.

While virtual commitments do not replace in-person counseling, they will provide a complementary approach to meeting project needs in difficult times.

“Providing quality education in Panama, especially the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrates that U. S. Air Force air advisers have been able to do so. But it’s not the first time They can live up to each and every opportunity,” Miller said. “The MSAS is here to advise you, and we are making it happen. even in the age of social esttachment. “
