The African Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Africa) said Friday that the number of cases shown of COVID-19 in Africa had increased to 1084687, while the death toll was 24660.
The center, in its last updated on Friday, said the number of COVID-19 instances across the African continent increased from 1073,788 on Thursday to 1084,687 on Friday.
CDC Africa noted that the number of COVID-19-like deaths across the continent was higher across 404 deaths from 24,256 on Thursday to 24,660.
The Continental Agency for Disease Control and Prevention also reported that the number of other people recovering from COVID-19 infections has also reached 780,076 so far.
South Africa has lately the number of CASES of COVID-19 with 572,865. The country also has a number of deaths similar to COVID-19, with a maximum death toll of 11270 lately, according to the African CDC.
Egypt followed 96, 108 COVID-19 cases and 5,107 COVID-19-related deaths, followed by Nigeria, which recorded 48,116 CASES of COVID-19 and 966 deaths.
Morocco, a North African country, ranks fourth in terms of the number of COVID-19-related matrices registering 37,935 COVID-19, of which 584 resulted in deaths.
Algeria completes the list of the five most sensitive African countries inflamed by COVID-19, which has recorded 37,631 cases of COVID-19, of which 1,328 have resulted in deaths.
In total, these five countries account for approximately three-quarters of all COVID-19 cases in Africa, and South Africa accounts for more than 50% of all COVID-19 cases on the continent.
The southern African region is the highest hit in terms of cases shown, followed by the north and west african regions, said CDC Africa.

CDC Africa also reported that African countries reported case rates comparable to or higher than the overall case rate of 3.7%.
These Africans are Chad, Sudan, Liberia, Niger, Egypt, Mali, Angola, Burkina Faso and Tanzania.
