New Delhi [India], September 10 (ANI): Asian Development Bank (ADB) Vice President Shixin Chen, on his stopover in India from September 5 to 9, reiterated the AfDB’s commitment to further strengthen its partnership with India and affirmed the AfDB’s assistance for the government’s progression priorities aimed at immediate post-COVID-19 economic recovery, the country’s green and inclusive environment, the AfDB said on Saturday.
During his visit to New Delhi, Chen met with Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) Secretary and AfDB Deputy Governor Ajay Seth and welcomed the achievement of a record $4870 million loan commitment from the AfDB, adding $274 million for personal expenses. sector operations in India in 2021 and discussed long-term cooperation.
“The AfDB will continue to work largely with the Government of India to assist the government’s priorities of revitalizing economic activity to generate more jobs, productivity and create livelihood opportunities retained by the pandemic,” Chen said in a statement.
“To achieve this, the AfDB will invest in fitness and education; micro, small and medium-sized enterprises; and public sector management, in addition to supporting India’s national flagship projects in the spaces of infrastructure, logistics, urban progress, economic hall. progression and green growth,” he said.
AfDB’s current portfolio in India includes 62 ongoing projects worth $14. 65 billion in the transport, urban planning, energy, human development, agriculture and herbal resources, and finance sectors.

Chen held sectoral talks with the secretaries of the ministries of road transport and roads; new and renewable energy; environment, forests and climate change; and Director General of the Institute of Energy and Resources.
On September 7 and 8, Chen visited Bangalore and led the state-level consultation meetings on the PSC with senior state officials led by Chief Secretary Vandita Sharma and also discussed the ongoing and planned long-term AfDB in various sectors of Karnataka.
He visited the sites of the AfDB-funded Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System Project and the Bengaluru Metro Project. (ANI)
