KUALA LUMPUR, 12 August – The COVID-19 pandemic has forced FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to postpone qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup /Asian Cup 2023 until 2021 to be played in October and November.
The AFC, in a writing on its online page www.the-afc.com, under pressure that the joint resolution with FIFA had been taken to protect the physical condition and protection of all parties involved in qualifying matches.
“FIFA and AFC will continue to work in combination to closely monitor the stage in the region and identify new dates for the respective qualifying matches,” he said.
The governing framework of Asian football has also revealed that it will announce more main points in the new dates of qualifying matches in due course.
This is the postponement through the AFC and FIFA since March due to the pandemic.
According to the schedule, Malaysia is scheduled to play against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an away match on 8 October, against Vietnam at The Bukit Jalil National Stadium here on October 13, before completing their initial matches against Thailand in Bangkok. November 17.
Malaysia is currently in Group G of the playoffs with nine problems after five games.
However, the United Arab Emirates, which is in fourth place with six points, has an additional game while Group G leaders Vietnam have 11 points, followed by Thailand in 3rd place (eight points) and Indonesia last in points.
