Dr. Mercedes López, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine who led the research, explained that this phenomenon was detected in the research of the immunological habit of the organization of patients who attended to COVID-19 and that it is an abnormal response, probably originating from the “magnitude” of the infection. “The patients who treat us, the vast majority, recover completely, although some permanent with various symptoms, when they are elevated. Much of this symptomatology is possibly due to patients persisting in their activated state. , inflamed immune cells,” he said.
He explains, on the other hand, that although coverage temporarily scales its general parameters, this does not occur with cellular defense mechanisms. Therefore, in the Scientific Tribunal of the intercontinental ballistic missile, the traumas observed in convalescent patients must be excited by the population with the message of maintaining preventive measures while waiting for a vaccine.
These effects coincide with those practiced in other groups, and would possibly be dated with patience of the manifestations and seconds that caused suffering from the disease, which had the effect of living through the “long COVID-19” or long COVID. -19. “ We practice that patients with high or moderate infections are the ones who recover the immune formula the longest, does not return to source 0 and extends for 3 or 4 months. There is a diversity of symptoms, much more than that. People insist that they are left with headaches, pain, and fatigue, even when classic lab tests are normal.
The study analyzed testimonies of suffering and blood from Americans who recovered with varying degrees of severity in the course of the disease: moderate symptoms; et of hospitalized non-ventilated to ventilated, who were followed for weeks.
“Once the infection is overcome, data and protection titers can be normalized, however, at the cellular level, the innate and adaptive responses, the cells are permanently activated. Yes, it is notable,” says Dr. López.
In this regard, it is explained that the human immune formula has two levels, but is connected to the temporal and the functional: innate and adaptive immunity (T and B lymphocytes). The innate reaction will manifest itself when contacting an aggressor and its target will be eliminated. This happens in a second, instantly. But secondly, this mechanism works to expand adaptive immunity, which lasts longer, although it is a longer lasting reaction. In fact, it is immunity that is activated so that we have an immune memory.
The findings of this survey imply that other types of immunity would possibly be similar to the extensive symptomatology of the infection, which are permanently “contained” during those months. “If in many cases there are no mandatory treatments, it will not have to be a consultation of any infection, and it will have to be basic for prevention,” added the researcher.
“When the infection ends, patients have a higher coverage point than they had before the infection, but then they decrease. He is not a foreigner, he is not someone who has generated immunity or reminiscence for the slightest space. The fear is “The cellular immune response, which means that the formula will maintain its post-infection normalcy. Yes, it would possibly have long-term implications that are mandatory for the study. “
According to the ICBM researcher, the research shows markers of activation of cells of the adaptive immune system, in particular the cytotoxic response. There is an express organization of T lymphocytes, DC8, which is not only activated, but with the symptoms of an imaginable war against infection. “We call this data profile ‘tired’ or ‘exhausted’, and they are less effective,” specifies Dr. López.
Actualmente, el equipo de investigadores que forman parte de esta iniciativa financiada por ANID trabajan en la recolección de muestras para estudiar la respuesta inmune de profesionales de la salud que serán inmunizados los próximos días.
This project, in a giant plaza, aims to generate information for the adoption of fitness strategies and protocols against COVID-19, as well as a national immunological knowledge platform with educational and logistical experience for emergency monitoring and surveillance. of this type in the future. “It contributes to the knowledge and understanding of the immunopathogenesis of the infection,” says Dr. Mercedes López.
“It is vital that in Chile there is independence and emerging infection research technologies, and this assignment aims to provide a contribution to the creation of these investigative capacities. Although we are used to reporting foreign reports on the evolution of the infection, we cannot be better observers and we will have to contribute to observing what is happening in the country. The expectation is to achieve vital advances in the characterization of the immune reaction of patients,” added Dr. Fabiola Osorio, intercontinental ballistic missile researcher.
