A new COVID-19 check opens in Vancouver as the number of cases increases

Health officials are opening a new coronavirus test in Vancouver as the number of new cases continues to increase in the region.

The COVID-19 Assessment Center will be in the north parking lot of Vancouver Community College on 7 Avenue between Glen and Keith Drive.

The center will be open to patients without an appointment and car service and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, Vancouver Coastal Health said Wednesday.

People who receive a check do not want to be sent, but staff will not provide loose checks to others without symptoms.

People who want a check are requested to use the province’s self-assessment tool.

The fitness authority said it also extended the opening hours of a control center in Richmond and planned a new facility for North Vancouver in the coming weeks.
