A few days after the resumption of on-site learning, Raymond Elementary conducted the COVID-19 test

Raymond Elementary School resumed on-site learning Monday through Thursday, the school district sent a letter to parents saying, “An individual at Raymond Elementary School examined COVID-19. “

Raymond’s school district superintendent Steve Holland said there were no immediate plans to reposition the school’s existing reopening regime after a positive test, and that protocols are in place and strictly adhere to that permit for additional on-site learning.

Several other schools in Pacific County have already allowed students to return or are about to return. There is a list of some additional schools in history.

“We were pretty sure that at some point we were going to have a positive case,” Holland said. “However, what has been attractive about this procedure is that we have found that the protocols we are employing actually work. As for the fitness branch, if we don’t violate protocols, we have the formula in a position to take care of that. “

No main points have been posted about who tested positive due to federal fitness data privacy laws, and there is no indication of whether the positive user is a member, instructor, or student.

“We had six adults and 19 academics who got in touch here (with the user who tested positive), and were following all the protocols, which allowed us to keep going to school,” Holland said.

On September 17, Pacific County Health Officer Dr. Steven Krager sent a letter to Pacific County schools authorizing the slow reopening of facilities for elementary school students.

Pacific County Director of Emergency Management Scott McDougall said Krager, the Department of Health, and school districts have met weekly since mid-July to discuss how schools work. to replace reopening plans without delay.

“Let’s take a look at the parameters,” McDougall said of the long-term learning at the site in the county. The number of instances consisting of 100,000 inhabitants is a key factor in the functioning of schools. approximately 50 cases consistent with 100,000 in the last two weeks. ” If we make it in 75 or more and stay for more than 3 weeks, we will reassess it. “

For Grays Harbor County, where public schools are all in distance learning mode, on Wednesday, the case rate is 183. 4 consistent with 100,000 citizens in the two weeks after.

McDougall said Pacific County citizens can expect common updates on the stage of emergency control and public fitness in the coming days.

“If your child is not known as a close contact and has no symptoms of COVID-19, detection is not and the threat of infection is low,” says the letter from the Raymond School District. “Simply having a case of COVID-19 at your child’s school requires no restrictions unless your child has COVID-19 symptoms or has tested positive for COVID-19. “

The protocols come with dresses with masks, common cleaning and disinfection and maintaining social distance. The district provided the following list of “essentials” for students to return to school:

1. All young people will have to wear a mask on the bus and at school. It’ll have to be a mask, not a handkerchief or a legging. If you can’t provide a mask, we’ll provide it to you.

2. Each child must bring a figure, signed by one of the parents, each day indicating that they do not show symptoms of illness, a copy of this figure included in the letter. Students will get a packet of those forms on their first day of school.

3. Meals will be provided to students when they are in school. These students will also get breakfast and lunch to take home during their time at school.

4. Se expect students to have breakfast before they arrive at school; breakfast will be served at school. Lunch will be served.

Parents were told that the district is running with the Pacific County Department of Health, investigating who might have had close contact with the positive user.

“Anyone known as a close contact will get some other notification, in addition to this letter, with data on the movements and resources required,” the letter says Thursday. “If you don’t receive further notification, it means your child has not been known as close contact and your risk of infection is low. “

The letter suggested to all parents, including those with children who have not had close contact with the positive test, to be aware of COVID-19 symptoms in their children, which may appear two to 14 days later. The exhibition.

If symptoms are detected, “the fitness branch recommends seeking a medical evaluation if any of those symptoms expand in the next 14 days,” the letter said. Parents of students who expand symptoms notify the elementary school principal and remain quarantined until the medical evaluation and tests are completed.

Raymond Elementary School reopened on Monday to continue learning. The students were divided into two organizations, some returning on Monday, others on Tuesday. One organization is mondays and Wednesdays, the others on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The district plans to resume on-site learning for students in grades 7 through 12 on Monday, October 19. As a component of COVID-19 precautions, students will have no lockers and must bring a backpack.
