A British father of 4 suffered horrific injuries after being stabbed in Portugal at a bachelor party.
Joel Collins, 35, separated from his friends at a party on the coast of the southern Algarve town of Albufeira.
His circle of relatives said Joel, who is in a coma, was stabbed unprovoked in an alleged attack as he was returning to his hotel.
Sister Heidi Collins said Joel, from Troedyrhiw, Wales, has undergone surgeries, Wales Online reports, and is in intensive care.
Joel discovered the subconscious on the street through a passerby with 4 deep wounds in his stomach and was taken to the hospital.
He suffered lacerations in his pancreas, lungs, intestines and stomach.
Heidi said her brother had limited memory of what happened to him in the July 4 attack.
Nurses said it gave the impression that Joel had been assaulted when he arrived without his phone or ID.
His last memory separating from his organization and pulling out his phone to use Google Maps to find directions back to his hotel.
He left with deep stab wounds and has since been placed under intensive care after several surgeries.
Joel is scheduled for surgery Monday.
Heidi said, “Now we take it day by day. “
Joel’s parents and his girlfriend, Gabriella, are by his bedside and Heidi has gone out to see her brother.
“The doctors told mom and dad that they had taken him to the hospital by ambulance,” Heidi added.
“He discovered through a member of the public. “
The language barrier proved complicated for Joel’s family, who still don’t know if the incident was reported to Portuguese police or not.
They said the nurses asked them if Joel had reported it or not and understood that the police had called the hospital to see if Joel could reach them.
“We’re confused,” Heidi said.
Although they have tried to communicate with the police and the UK embassy, they still don’t know anything.
“People want to be more alert when they’re at the station,” Heidi said.
“It turns out that the police are not doing anything about it. These crimes continue and no one is aware of them.
It’s a terrible experience terribly similar to that suffered by Treherbert’s Alex Evans, who stabbed three times and was presumed dead almost in May.

Joel’s family circle has spoken to Alex because they say they feel they have run out of help or the Portuguese government and don’t know where to turn.
Alex posted on social media that his appeared for Joel and said: “On May 15 of this year, I was stabbed 3 times and left for dead at a bachelor party in Albufeira, Portugal.
“As I slowly recovered, I reported that this goes back to Joel Collins. It’s provocative to hear him because his story is very similar and my mind is with his circle of relatives and I hope he recovers soon.
“After talking to his family, I need to spread this word to raise awareness about the knife crime that is taking place in Albufeira, because it is not being made public, and urge other people to stay together.
“I didn’t think I would write an article like this so soon after it happened to me, about who lives so close.
“Please, if everyone can share this, because I would hate it to be reduced to family. “
The UK Embassy in Portugal and the Portuguese RNG have been contacted for comment.
Joel’s family circle has launched a fundraising page to help fund his expenses for the past few weeks and beyond.
