BOSTON – A COVID-19 case organization in Massachusetts attributed to a bachelorette party in Rhode Island overdue last month, fitness officials in both states said.
Nineteen visitors who attended the last July assembly in an unknown location were upset, the government said. Seventeen were from Massachusetts.
“There is a bachelorette party with 20 other people in late July,” Joseph Wfinishelken, a spokesman for the Rhode Island Department of Health, told the Providence Journal on Wednesday. “The most common organization in Massachusetts. Look for contacts with the many other people in Massachusetts who have become ill. Two Rhode Islanders tested positive. We’re looking for contacts with those other two people.”
Ann Scales, spokesman for the Massachusetts Public Health Decompotor, said earlier that the 19 instances were part of an organization of Americans who rented a joint house in Rhode Island for a wedding that took place last July.
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker spoke about the occasion at a news convention Tuesday while discussing the importance of facial coverage, social distance, and hygiene.
“Everyone who attended this wedding was a user tested positive for COVID,” Baker said.
A wedding reception prior to this month in Maine resulted in at least 60 cases of COVID-19 and one death, fitness officials in Maine said. Twenty-two of these Americans attended the reception, while the others were secondary or tertiary instances.
The outbreak of the wedding reception has led to epidemics in a nursing home and a prison, he said.
