80% of COVID-19 patients in Myanmar are vaccinated

YANGON, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — 80% of people infected with COVID-19 in Myanmar between Jan. 28 and Sept. 7 are not vaccinated against the virus, the country’s health ministry said Friday.

Myanmar has shown more than 80,000 new cases of COVID-19 and more than 130 new deaths from COVID-19, the country’s fourth wave of COVID-19 that began in late January this year, according to official data.

The total number of infections from 28 January to 7 September included 80% of those who were not vaccinated, 15. 9% of others who received the first doses of the vaccine, 4% of those who were fully vaccinated and 0. 1% of others. that gained reinforcements, the fitness ministry said.

The death toll from COVID-19 in the era was 84. 1 percent of other people who were not vaccinated and won only the first dose, 14. 4 percent were fully vaccinated and 1. 5 percent were other people who received boosters, the ministry said.

As COVID-19 infection began to rise in the country starting in August, its health government suggested that other people get vaccinated and comply with health rules issued by the ministry to curb the resurgence of COVID-19 infections.

In August, the country also reported COVID-19 cases with Omicron subvariants BA. 2. 75, BA. 2. 76, BA. 4 and BA. 5 after detecting other people returning from abroad.

“Other vaccinated people can increase immunity to COVID-19 and decrease the threat of death,” Tun Min, deputy director-general of the Regional Health Department of the Yangon Ministry of Health, told reporters.

Myanmar has already vaccinated more than 36. 9 million people, or about 66 of its total population, against COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to official data.

The death toll from COVID-19 in the country remained unchanged at 19,444 on Friday, and a total of 594,984 COVID-19 patients were recovered and discharged from hospitals across the country on Friday, according to official data.
