72 OFW who died from COVID-19 to be repatriated from Saudi Arabia on Friday

MANILA, Philippines – The remains of 72 Filipino staff members (OFW) who died from coronavirus infection and other fitness disorders will be repatriated from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on Friday, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (DOLE) said.

At least 62 of the DWO who died tested positive for COVID-19, while the rest had died from other fitness problems.

He added that senior government officials will receive assistance when the bodies arrive, out of respect for the country’s fashionable heroes who sacrificed their lives to make a contribution to their families and the local economy.

Bello said it’s a practice for bodies coming from OFW and who died while fleeing abroad.

“The same respect will be given to the arriving TAF and who have lost their lives in Saudi Arabia in search of a longer deadline for their families and their homeland,” Bello said in a statement.

“We are in a position to arrive, ” said Bello. “We will continue to bring our heroes home as needed,” he added.

Including this lot, the Philippine government has already brought 264 of W’s remains from Saudi Arabia. This includes the 192 migrant employees who died and took home the events last July. [C.A]
