The number of others with active COVID-19 infections in British Columbia is higher in the last nine government updates, and is now 578, according to government statistics. That’s the highest number since May 8. Of those infected, only nine are in the hospital, while 4 are in intensive care facilities and the rest are at home.
Bonnie Henry, a provincial fitness worker, said she was involved in increasing the number of other people hospitalized by COVID-19.
A total of 1,878 people self-isolate, adding to those who have been told to self-isolate due to possible exposure to the disease.
No further deaths were reported on 13 August, leaving the number of deaths in the province due to the virus a global pandemic in 196.
Henry said 78 new cases of coronavirus had been known in the last 24 hours and the younger ones were infected.
“We have to be a little careful to demonize [the others],” Henry said. “Most young people do the right thing and are socially responsible. They care a lot about their communities and their families.”
The average age of the other 550 people who have been hospitalized for the virus remains in the 1960s, Henry said.
“Hospitalizations are very rare in other young people and even young adults,” he says. “We have had very few people who have needed care in the ICU and have not had deaths among other people under the age of 40. Unfortunately, deaths are severely affected by the older population, especially those over the age of 80.”
The distribution of the province’s 4,274 COVID-19 infections across the fitness region is: 1,306 at Vancouver Coastal Health (up to 33); 2,242 at Fraser Health (up to 39); 150 fitness island (unchanged); 398 indoor fitness (up to four); 106 at Northern Health (up to two); and 72 other people living outside Canada (unchanged).
There are 3,500 other people who have fully recovered from COVID-19 in British Columbia.
No new apartment for seniors has reported outbreaks. This leaves seven nursing homes with active outbreaks: -Holy Family Hospital in Vancouver; Richmond Lions Manor in Richmond; Dania Home in Burnaby; Maple Ridge Senior Village on Maple Ridge; Derby Manor in Burnaby; The George Derby Center in Burnaby; and – New Vista Care Home in Burnaby.
There is also an active outbreak at the Joseph and Rosalie Segal Health Family Health Center. A new network outbreak is at Okanagan Correctional Center, Henry said. The center experienced an epidemic before this year that had become extinct.
Before Christ. Health Minister Adrian Dix provided an update on scheduled surgeries, which were discontinued when efforts were made to leave hospital beds blank in the event of hospitalizations related to COVID-19. These surgeries began to resume on May 18.
“The number of patients contacted about his surgery has increased to 80,278,” Dix said.
“Between May 18 and August 9, we had 71,512 surgeries. 54,568 were scheduled surgeries. 19,944 were uns planned or urgent surgeries.
