5 men in court for alleged theft of spirits, 20 million nails came

On Tuesday, five men gave the impression in a district court in Yaba, Lagos state, for alleged theft of exotic spirits and wine worth 20 million naras belonging to their employer.

Police charged Micheal Akor, 28, James Akor, 23, Lawrence Naanban, 30, Isaac Zafaniah, 20, and Isaac Dauda, ​​20, of conspiracy and robbery.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Module Olaluwoye, reported that the accused committed the crime in March, at 10 Emma Abimbola Cole Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

He claimed that the defendant had stolen cartons from Hennessy XO, Moet champagne

Olaluwoye told the court that the defendants, being workers of the company; Party drinks that D, the lock-up, stole the drinks.

The crime, he said, contravenes the provisions of articles 411 and 287 (7) of the Penal Code of the State of Lagos, 2015 (revised).

Article 287(7) provides for a seven-year criminal sentence for theft of his employer, while on 411 the crime of conspiracy entails a two-year penalty sentence for the convicted person.

The defendants, however, have pleaded guilty to the charge.

Judge L. Y. Balogun admitted the defendants on a bail of 500,000 naRs with two bonds for the same sum.

Balogun ordered the bonds to be paid for the job and provide evidence of 3 years of tax payment to the Lagos state government.

He deferred the case until 22 September for his mention. (YAYA)
