369 with COVID-19 in British Columbia’s late weekly update

BEFORE CHRIST. The Center for Disease Control reported Friday that another 369 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province, up 11% from last week.

The latest figures come amid ongoing respiratory problems in the province that have pushed children’s hospitals to the breaking point, but authorities say they have not been brought under control by COVID-19.

The number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients reported weekly through the BCCDC includes those with severe SARS-CoV-2 infections requiring hospitalization and those who are hospitalized for other reasons and tested positive by chance.

Health officials have said in the past that between 50 and 60 consistent with B. C. percent. Hospitals with COVID-19 at any given time are “accidental” cases.

Since the province shifted to this approach of counting the “hospital census” in January, there have been as many as 985 and only 255 people hospitalized on Thursdays.

This week’s update came a day late. The BCCDC releases weekly data on COVID-19 on Thursdays, but said on its online page this week that “an outage in network infrastructure that temporarily affected data formula updates” forced it to delay the update.

This is a story in development, back for updates.
