The DeKalb County Health Department announced on Monday 24 new cases of new coronavirus among county citizens, 17 among those under the age of 30.
The total number of cases in the county increased to 1,160, while the death toll remained at 35 after the county reported two deaths on Friday, the last day the county reported figures.
There have been no new cases at the Willow Crest Nursing Home in Sandwich, which remains the center of long-term care still in epidemic mode, according to the Department of Health, with 57 settlement-related cases and 12 resident deaths.
Of the new cases, two concerned citizens aged 20, 15 to 20, one at 30, two at 40, two at 50 and two at 60.
Of the cases in the county, 40.2% concerned citizens under the age of 30, and cases among 20-year-olds were almost more than the two highest age groups.Statewide, only 30.8% of cases referred to others under the age of 30.
A total of 149 cases have been reported in 20-year-olds, 317 out of twenty, 182 out of thirty, 150 forty-144 of fifty.
According to county data, the city of DeKalb reports between 536 and 540 instances.There are 166 to 170 instances in sycamore; 136 to 140 sandwich; 96 to one hundred cases in Genoa; 61 to 65 cases in Cortland; 21 to 25 cases in Hinckley, Kirkland and Kingston, 16 to 20 in Somonauk and Malta; 11 to 15 at Waterman; and six to ten in Shabbona.Esmond, Earlville and Maple Park report one to five cases.
The Illinois Department of Public Health lists instances and zip code tests, while the county’s physical fitness branch lists instances across the municipality.The numbers vary between the Departments of State and Health due to the discrepancy in knowledge.
The 60115 zip code, DeKalb, had 521 reported cases and 9,139 tests were administered (a positivity rate of 5.7%); The 60178 zip code, Sycamore, had 171 instances and 4,018 tests (4.3%); The 60548 zip code, Sandwich, had 3298 tests and 207 cases (6.3%); 60112 postcode, Cortland, had 58 instances and 876 tests (6.6%); the 60135 zip code, Genoa, had 91 instances and 1,383 tests (6.6%); The 60145 zip code, Kingston, had 22 cases and 352 tests (6.3%) and the 60146 zip code, Kirkland, had 26 cases and 472 tests (5.5%).
In total, IDPH reported that another 235,023 people in Illinois tested positive for COVID-19, while another 8,026 people died across the state.On Friday, 4,064,161 tests were conducted. It also lists statewide recovery rates, calculated by dividing the recovered instances by the sum of the recovered and dead instances.Statewide recovery remained at 95%.
According to the knowledge of weekly verification and recovery published by the county on Friday, 28 citizens recovered from the virus last week, leaving 279 cases in recovery.
On Friday, 24,392 tests were administered locally. This would be a positivity rate of 4.7% according to the county’s knowledge (total instances divided between positive and negative tests), however, a new metric in the county lists the positivity rate (based on IDPH metrics) at 5.3%.
