In light of the coronavirus outbreak around the world, the Delhi High Court issued a ruling calling for the prompt evacuation of students stranded in Iran.
In light of recent coronavirus outbreaks in parts of the world, including India, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued an opinion in a move calling for the prompt evacuation of Indian academics from Iran.
The High Court has sought the central government’s reaction to a conceivable evacuation in a petition filed through an organization of Indian parents whose children are reading at various universities in Iran. The petition claims that Indian academics in Iran are stranded and that an evacuation program deserves to be put in place for their return.

Concerned parents further claim that there is a serious health risk to students stranded in the country after all flights to India were cancelled. In addition, universities have closed schools and shelters. Exams were also cancelled and students were asked to return to their countries.
The request came as the government issued a notice on Feb. 26 asking people to avoid traveling to Iran.

In less than two weeks, the number of coronavirus cases detected in Iran has risen from two to more than 2,300. This has reportedly deeply shaken the public’s confidence in the Iranian regime’s ability to control the virus.
At least 77 other people have died from the disease in the country, including Mohammad Mirmohammadi, 71, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
