22 in army plane crash in Ukraine

MOSCOW – A Ukrainian army plane with students from an aviation school crashed and jammed the chimney on Friday upon landing, killing 22 people, the country’s emergency branch said.

Two other people on board were seriously injured and four others are missing. The An-26 crashed while landing at Chuhuiv Airport, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) east of the capital, Kiev.

Reports said the aircraft had an army team and that most of those on board were academics at an aviation school run by the Department of Defense.

There is no immediate indication of the cause of the accident.
