POCAHONTAS COUNTY, W. Va. – Some of the world’s mountain bikers will return to West Virginia next fall.
“It’s huge. For the mountain biking world, it’s necessarily the equivalent of housing the Super Bowl,” said Shawn Cassell, director of virtual marketing and public relations at Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
Confirmation of the variety came at the end of September as a component of a provisional depfinishent calendar in COVID-19.
“The staging of the occasions will feature the evolution of the fitness scene in the affected regions,” ICU officials said.
Snowshoe Mountain hosted the World Cup for the first time in 2019, attracting more than 15,000 spectators and, cassell said, the scope of the occasion beyond resort ownership.
“All guest rooms, hotels, around Snowshoe and Pocahontas County were booked and there are plenty of summer occasions that do,” he says.
This year’s MOUNTAIN World Cup has a condensed schedule with races from now until early November in the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia and Portugal.
Next year, a full season is planned for COVID-19 protocols.
In 2019, Snowshoe ultimate marked the return of the MTB UCI World Cup to American soil after a break.
“Before this occasion, it’s been about five or six years since the ICU gave a World Cup occasion to an American venue, so it was like leaving and seeing American racing enthusiasts come out and an occasion like that,” Cassell said.
“I was surprised (by the answer). “
In 2021, events in West Virginia will air internationally on Red Bull TV.
