Nearly 210,000 lives were lost to coronavirus in the United States, and on Sunday, the first day of the national COVID-19 commemoration, a tough White House outdoor facility was installed to form the country’s pandemic. Twenty thousand empty chairs were covered, on the Ellipse, a giant outdoor lawn of the White House, each constituting 10 lives lost by COVID-19.
CoVID Survivors for Change installed the chairs and also broadcast live a “defense, art and stories of genuine people” program. The occasion was hosted by Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick, a former U. S. health ambassador. Usa, Informa WUSA, an affiliated CBS.
Speakers included a circle of family members who died for COVID-19, as well as survivors and frontline workers.
One of the speakers, Konah Bernard, whose mother, dr. Maima Darbah Fahnbulleh, died of COVID-19 after contracting the virus in a nursing home in May, WUSA reports.
Bernard also shared his mother’s 73-year-old story with Jess Arnold of WUSA and described the day he had to say goodbye to his mother about Zoom. “I that terrible morning, ” said Bernard. ” Time has stopped. “
One of them is Dr. Maima Darbah Fahnbulleh, 73.

Dr. Fahnbulleh, who was born in Liberia, “a very dynamic person,” Bernard said. He earned his Ph. D. in social paintings from Howard University and had a master’s degree in social paintings and public health, WUSA reported.
“She has spent most of her life protecting others with disabilities, speaking on behalf of other disadvantaged people about their rights and others who had no voice,” her daughter said.
The installation of 20,000 empty chairs intended to serve as a reminder to the White House, WUSA reports. Event organizers and speakers like Bernard need the government to expand a national protection and recovery plan.
“Education and consistency are the main thing,” Bernard said.
