SINGAPORE: On Wednesday, July 13, 16,870 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Singapore, nearly triple the 5,979 cases on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health (MINSA) said on its online page that this accumulation was due to the peak observed after a long weekend.

“The buildup in the number of instances today is due to the increase we see after a long weekend. The 7-day moving average number of local authorities has remained solid over the past week, at around 8400,” the fitness ministry said.

There were 9,989 new ones last Wednesday.

The weekly infection rose to 1. 01 on Wednesday from 0. 91 on Tuesday, the Health Ministry reported in an update on its website.

Three deaths have been reported.

Of the new cases, 906 were detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests.
