16 new cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba, 14 in Winnipeg

There are new cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba on Wednesday, according to a provincial press release.

This brings the total number of active instances in the province to 404, while another 945 people have recovered.

Of the new cases, 14 are in Winnipeg, one at Prairie Mountain Health and one in the Southern Health Region.

Public fitness officials say several of Winnipeg’s instances are close contacts of known instances and are connected to any existing outbreaks.

The existing five-day COVID-19 positivity rate, a moving average of positive s, is 1. 3%.

The Northern Health Region showed physical care at the Northern Lights Manor non-public care home in Flin Flon, Man. It tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.

“The employee without delay began to isolate himself and is recovering at home. It was shown that the employee did not perform any shifts in the infectious period,” said a spokesman for the fitness region.

Visits are suspended at the non-public care home, the threat to citizens and staff is “extremely low,” the spokesman said.

Officials also warn of conceivable exposure to COVID-19 that could possibly have occurred at a Tim Hortons in Winnipeg earlier this month.

As of Wednesday, Canada had 133,897 displayed and suspected coronavirus cases, and the provinces and territories indexed 117,701 of them as recovered or resolved.
