1210 instances of Covid-19, five deaths

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health reported 1,210 new instances of Covid-19, adding 518 in the Klang Valley and 499 in Sabah.

The Klang Valley included 271 in Selangor, 245 in Kuala Lumpur and two in Putrajaya.

The number of new infections in Malaysia exceeded 1,000 for the fifth consecutive day.

In a statement, Director-General of Health Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 1,210 brought the total number of infections in the country to 49,730.

Noor Hisham said there were 1,018 recoveries, bringing the total number of others released to 36,624.

Five deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 318.

Today’s five deaths affected four other people in Sabah and one in Perak, 25 to 80 years old. With the exception of a woman in Sabah, they all suffered from chronic fitness problems.

Most of the new ones in Sabah came here from existing groups, with 112 infections detected in the new Avenue and Kejora groups in Penampang and Kota Kinabalu respectively.

Most infections in the Klang Valley, 206 cases, came from the Damanlela construction site cluster in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. 131 cases were detected in the Teratai cluster in Selangor.

Other new cases reported were in Negeri Sembilan (67), Perak (47), Penang (33), Kelantan (19), Johor (14), Kedah (8), Melaka (2), Labuan (1), Terengganu (1) and Sarawak (1).

Perlis and Pahang were the only states that signed new Covid-19 infections today.

Noor Hisham said there are currently 12,788 active cases, with 105 patients receiving intensive care, 40 of whom require respiratory assistance.

There have been 172 cases on the criminal teams today, and 122 on the Sandakan criminal organization in Sabah.

19 infections were imported, including Malays and 14 foreigners entering the country from Nepal, Qatar, India, the Philippines, Nigeria, the United States, Turkey, Russia, Tunisia, Romania and Myanmar.
