SINGAPORE – There were 11,732 new COVID-19 infections in Singapore on Tuesday, more than double the 4,719 new instances the previous day.
The Ministry of Health is also launching a Pofma (Online Falsehood and Manipulation Protection Act) action against rumors circulating on WhatsApp that Singapore is experiencing an immediate and significant accumulation of cases of severe illness and death due to the circulating XBB strain.
The vast majority of patients continue to report symptoms such as sore throat or fever, especially if they have been vaccinated, the fitness ministry added.
By comparison, at the height of the last Delta wave, 171 were hospitalized and 308 required supplemental oxygen, while at the peak of the Omicron wave, 54 were hospitalized in intensive care and 242 required supplemental oxygen.
